I won't say that I'm an elite in Battledoming, but at least I have been playing
NeoPets for nearly five months and I have some experience in that. Many players
are ambitious and want their pets to have great stats. I have no comments about
that. But some people may wonder how other successful players can have powerful
pets but not himself or herself. Let me explain how you can battle smart.
1) Stats
To win a battle, your pet must have good stats. But beware! Certain stats may
not prove useful in battles. For example, the agility of your pet. Personally,
I don't think that proves any useful. Let's look at certain stats which are
more useful when you battle.
Strength: Strength is very important to cast a massive damage on your opponent!!!
If you use a Wand of the Air Faerie and use it at your opponent and your opponent
only get around 6 damage, think again!! Don't immediately think that the wand
is useless. Perhaps your strength is not good enough. Put in more effort at
your pet's strength then. Pets with good strength can cast over 10 damage with
the wand.
Defence: It's hard for people to lay a finger on you when you have a good defence.
As long as your pet can defend itself properly, even a Grand Lightning Beam
won't even harm your pet. Personally, I don't really know much about defence.
But I know certainly that it's hard to attack those pets with defence. I would
however think you need not put too much on defence. As long as your pet has
over 20 defence points I would think it's good enough.
Endurance: This is the one which you may need to focus on! Endurance is very
important. If your pet's endurance is at 3/3, a Sparkshooter is enough to kill
your pet. In a battle, some opponents might want to use snowballs or muffins.
Be careful if they do that!! You never know when they would use them so have
a good endurance. An okay endurance will be 20/20, but an excellent one will
be at 35/35. Yes, you need that much hit points.
2) Equipment
You can only equip your pet with 8 weapons, so choose wisely!
Attack: You don't need hidden tower weapons or high-priced weapons to do damage.
A snowball or a muffin will send your opponent to the hospital. If you want
to invest on Endless-use items, Improved Lightning Beams will be great. No,
not grand lightning beams. They're overpriced now. Get the improved ones. Bubble
Beams too -- You buy those level two ones. Jarred Snows are efficient and cheap.
I would encourage Fire and Radioactive Snows. Don't buy sceptres -- They cost
little damage just like Sparkshooters. Ask other players or you can Neomail
me if you want to know more information on a certain weapon. You can also make
use of the Battlepedia for further reference.
defence/Healing: Some weapons can attack and defend at the same time. Examples
are the Jarred Snows. But if you're a new player you may want to bring along
a large metal shield. I would advise bring some healing items with you. If your
pet's at 12/12 or below, you need not get a Scorchstone. A slime potion is something
like a Scorchstone and it only cost about 3000 NP plus and heal 10 points per
battle. You get your Scorchstones only if you have money to spare. Healing potions
are now priced at high prices so I don't encourage you to buy Pale Elixirs or
Puce Elixirs. They are one-used items and many battles will cost you many Neopoints
so think again!
3) Training
There are plenty of ways to increase your pets' stats. The training school,
academy, lab ray, faerie/kitchen quests and so on. Choose the best way for you
to train your pet (say for example, you're a newbie. The Academy will be best
for you to train your pet. However if you're a veteran, the kitchen quests will
suit you nicely. If you're a veteran and you choose the training school or the
academy, you need plenty of codestones or Dubloons to increase your pets stats
so choose wisely!) And also, the NeoPets Team have created Punchbag Bob for
players to test out their weapons and plan their moves. Make use of Bob! He's
there to guide your pets towards success in Battledoming!!
4) Saving up
You definitely need Neopoints to train your pet, buy them weapons and get them
a PetPet to help your pets in battles. Some people tend to get tempted by some
weapons and in their foolishness they spent away their money which they earlier
on planned to buy a Scorchstone or whatever. Don't get tempted by other things!
Let's say you're saving up to buy a Snow Flame and you're tempted by the Icy
Glove. Don't spend away your 200 thousand in your hurry to get the Icy Glove!!
Ask other people whether it is a good weapon or not. Neomail them (or go to
the NeoPets Chat Boards) and ask those experts to help you make a comparison.
If you continue saving up wisely, who knows one day, you might afford to buy
the Hidden Tower Weapons!!
