Another new game you say? That's right, it's Deckball! Not only are you playing
for Neopoints, but I will bet that you are looking for those elusive Dubloons
also. Well, sit back and let me tell you how to win at Deckball.
First off, you have to choose the correct setting. Since you can only get Neopoints
on the Captain setting, and you can only get Dubloons by playing Captain Survival
or Captain Timed, I'd suggest you try Captain Survival. I know, you probably
wonder how you can possibly get 6 goals to win a Dubloon, and keep Mirgle scoreless,
but it's possible, especially if you follow some simple ideas on how to play
1. Let Mirgle get to the ball first. This is the most important part of the
whole game. If you head out after the ball, chances are Mirgle will steal possession
from you, and your goal will be left unguarded. He can score very easily and
quickly if you allow him to do this. Instead just wait at your goal for him
to either kick the ball, or sometimes he will miss the ball and try to turn
around to get it. If that happens then you might have a free shot at his goal,
and you should quickly run to the ball and kick it before he can finish turning
2. Once Mirgle has possession of the ball, chances are it will end up in a
corner eventually. If the ball goes into a corner near the goal you defend,
then you should get in there with Mirgle and fight for the ball. I usually angle
Pawkeet away from the direction I want the ball to go (away from Mirgle's goal).
This keeps Pawkeet from allowing the ball to slip past him into the goal you
are trying to defend. Nine times out of ten, you will successfully knock the
ball in the other direction and succeed in defending your goal. However, if
the ball is in a corner near the goal Mirgle guards, let him kick the ball out
of the corner. You should move back a little towards your goal to block the
ball in case it heads in that direction.
3. If there is no way you can beat Mirgle to the ball, you can still make life
difficult for him. Get in his way if you are in the direction he is going, or
run into him from the sides or behind. This will throw him off course. You can
also bump into him or the walls to give you a burst of speed towards the ball.
Sometimes you can run into him and make him hit the ball into his own goal.
Whatever works. If you are willing to play a little dirty, you can win. No red
cards in this game.
4. Sometimes it looks like Mirgle gets confused about which way to go. Take
advantage of this, especially if he is not in front of his goal. Get to the
ball and take a shot if you can before he regains his sense of direction.
5. Kick the ball into your own goal. WHAT? Yeah! If a trap door forms in front
of your goal, kick the ball there if you can do it quickly. The ball will fall
into the door and pop out of another one that forms in the middle of the deck,
headed straight for Mirgle's goal. If he is not there to block the ball, you'll
get the point!
6. Don't worry about getting to the cracker to speed up Pawkeet. Actually,
avoid it unless you are afraid Mirgle will get to it before you score a goal.
Being able to go faster just makes it difficult to maneuver your PetPet. You
should by all means avoid the anchors! In fact, if at all possible, you should
try to knock Mirgle into them to slow him down since he sometimes seems to get
some big bursts of speed when going after the ball.
7. Try to get a goal before the mast comes up in the middle of the board. It
just gets in the way and makes the game three times as hard to play since you
have to work your way around it. Plus that Mynci pirate is distracting! Usually
you have plenty of time to make a goal before the mast appears.
With those ideas in mind, try playing Deckball
again. Just don't give up too soon. The more practice you get, the better you
will be able to move Pawkeet around the deck. Be prepared to accidentally hit
a few balls into your own goal. It happens. It also helps if you study up on
physics...all that conservation of momentum involved when bouncing off walls
and shooting the ball so it ricochets off of the walls into the goal. Or maybe
you can just use luck like me. :)
